Admission and Credit Evaluation Policy for Transfer Students
Guidelines and Procedures for Accepting Transfer Credits
Prospective transfer students are individuals who have previously attended college before seeking admission to Red Lake Nation College. To facilitate the evaluation and transfer of credits, applicants are required to submit an official transcript directly from the institution they previously attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to Red Lake Nation College or delivered by the student in their original, sealed envelope.

Guidelines for Admission and Credit Transfer
Red Lake Nation College accepts credits from regionally accredited institutions based on the following criteria:
- Courses must have received a grade of “D” or better.
- Courses must have been completed within the past ten (10) years. Exceptions may be granted by the academic department for courses completed more than ten years ago.
- Only courses at the 100/1000+ level will be considered for transfer; developmental or remedial courses will not be accepted.
Advanced Placement (AP) Transfer Evaluation
How We Assess Your AP Education
High school students who have completed Advanced Placement (AP) courses with a score of three or higher are eligible to transfer those credits for college credit. Official documentation of exam scores must be provided. College credits are evaluated based on their applicability to the degree major. Students who do not agree with the College’s decision regarding the credit transfer may submit an appeal to the Student Records Department. Students requesting an appeal must provide reasonable material, such as a course description or syllabus from their previous institution to support their case.
Required Documents
What You Need to Transfer
Applicants must include official transcripts with their admissions applications for registration purposes. However, RLNC restricts the transfer of credits to no more than 34 credits from other institutions to fulfill degree requirements.
It is important to note that not all courses will be accepted for transfer. Evaluation of courses is conducted by the Student Records Department.

Understanding Transferable Coursework
The evaluation of college credits is based on their relevance to the chosen degree major. Students who wish to contest RLNC’s decision regarding credit transfer may submit an appeal to the Student Records Department. To support their case, students must provide reasonable material such as a course description or syllabus from their previous institution.
